Smoky Mountain basketball teams win openers

Smoky Mountain’s men’s and women’s basketball teams opened their seasons at home Tuesday with victories over Enka. Will Carpenter and Mark Thompson both scored 19 points as the Mustang men won 81-72. Radio’s return likely with commissioners’ help

Jackson County’s Revolving Loan Fund board Monday (Nov. 28) voted to recommend a $289,000 loan to jump start a local radio station. Tribe, Perdue ink deal that allows live dealers, sends casino revenue to schools

Live dealers are coming to Cherokee, and a portion of casino revenue will flow into state coffers now that Gov. Bev Perdue and leaders of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians have reached an agreement. WCU football player charged with financial card theft

Propane explosion injures one

One person was injured Friday afternoon when this Nissan SUV was damaged by a propane explosion. Kevin Murphy, owner of TKO subs was injured in the blast.
