Mustangs to open soccer playoffs at home Wednesday

Smoky Mountain will open the state 2-A soccer playoffs at home Wednesday at 6 p.m. against West Caldwell. The Mustangs (15-7-1) are the second seed from the Western North Carolina Athletic Conference. West (12-8) is the third seed from the Catawba Valley Conference. Wreck sends two people to Asheville

Two people were transported to Mission Hospitals in Asheville following a two-vehicle accident shortly before 11:30 a.m. today on N.C. 281 about a half mile from the intersection with N.C. 107. Pawlowski fired as defensive coordinator
