Duke prepares to dredge
Surveyors were at Dillsboro Dam this morning (Wednesday) after Jackson County on Tuesday issued the local development permits that clear the way for Duke Energy to dredge behind the dam.
According to Duke’s Surveying Project Manager Christy Davis, surveyors from Kirkland Land Surveying in Franklin, including surveyor Brian Barwatt, pictured, are currently locating Duke’s property corners.
“So when equipment moves in, we can make sure we keep it on our property and not disturb any adjoining property owners,” she said.
Duke officials are waiting for the surveyors to flag the corners before bringing in the dredging equipment, Davis said.
