School board member Brooks resigns
Mark Brooks, who has represented District 1 on the Jackson County School Board since 2004, announced at Tuesday’s meeting that he would resign, effective Oct. 31.
Brooks said he is planning to move to Swain County.
The other four board members will appoint Brooks’ replacement, who must be a resident of District 1.
