Parade for Smoky Mountain High School Basketball team at 12:30 today

The Smoky Mountain High School men’s basketball team will head to Greensboro Friday for the Western 2-A Regional Basketball Tournament. Their bus will leave SMHS at 12:30 p.m. and proceed down N.C.. 107 into town, then down Mill Street, and back onto Main Street, before turning on U.S. 23 Business and heading for the Triad with a police escort.

The Mustangs will face Berry Academy of Charlotte at 8:30 p.m. Friday in the regional semifinals. The winner will play either West Caldwell or Winston-Salem Carver at 8 p.m. Saturday for the regional championship and a spot in the state 2- title game March 13 in Raleigh.

People are encouraged to put a poster in their window, wear blue or tie a mustang blue ribbon to their door. Ribbons are available at Ray’s Florist.

A group is gathering in the front yard of the Chamber of Commerce at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
