Ridgeway Street to close for three months

By Nick Breedlove

Sylva board members approved in Thursday morning’s meeting (Nov. 19) for a portion of Ridgeway Street adjacent to the courthouse to be closed for three months.

“Construction of the new library has become hazardous for general traffic traveling along Ridgeway Street,” Town Manager Adrienne Isenhower said. “So the street will be closed for a few months, so that construction in the area can move along smoothly and accidents can be avoided.”

Ridgeway Street is estimated to open back up in three months. However, construction of the new library will not be complete until December 2010.
