Nine arrested in connection with stolen vehicles, weapons

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has made several arrests for property crimes in the past few days involving stolen firearms and stolen vehicles. All information on all the suspects was provided by Capt. Steve Lillard.
Arrested in connection with a residential breaking and entering that occurred in the area of Holly Hills Road in Sylva were Charles Shannon Bryson and Dale Stuart Allen Jr.

Bryson, 36 years of age, listing a Rivendell Road address in Sylva, was arrested on Nov. 7 and charged with one felony count of breaking and entering, two felony counts of larceny and six felony counts of larceny of a firearm. His bond was set at $40,000, and he is currently being detained at the Jackson County detention center.
Allen, 20 years of age, listing North Main Street address in Canton, was arrested Nov. 7 and charged with one felony count of breaking and entering, two felony counts of larceny and six felony counts of larceny of a firearm. His bond was set at $40,000, and he remains in jail.

Also arrested was Kevin James Dills, 26, , listing a Squeak Valley Road address in Sylva. Dills was arrested for one felony count of larceny and has been released after posting a $3,000 bond. This incident involved a stolen motorcycle that was taken from Mockingbird Lane in Dillsboro.

Arrested in connection with a stolen vehicle that was taken from Worley Farm Road in Sylva were Miranda Lee Marr and Amber Nicole Stover.
Marr, 18, listing a Martin Road address in Whittier, was arrested for one felony count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and one felony count of larceny of a motor vehicle. She has been released after posting a $6,000 bond.

Stover, 22 years of age, listing a Stillhouse Branch Road address in Bryson City, was arrested for one felony count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and one felony count of larceny of a motor vehicle.  She has been released after posting a $6,000 bond.

Julie Anne Chamberlain and Richard Lee Hefner were apprehended during a traffic stop in a full size van they were occupying that had just been stolen from North River Road. The Sylva Police Department assisted with the vehicle stop and the apprehension of the suspects.

Chamberlain, 40, listing a Winterhaven Drive address in Sylva, was arrested for one felony count of possession of a stolen vehicle, one felony count of possession of methamphetamine, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and one count of possession of Schedule IV prescription medications. She is currently being held under a $5,000 secured bond.

Hefner, 29, listing a Manor Trace address in Sylva, was arrested for one felony count of larceny of a motor vehicle and one felony count of possession of a stolen vehicle. His bond was set at $7,000 for those offenses. It was the discovered that he was wanted from York County, South Carolina. A fugitive warrant was issued and an additional $50,000 bond was set. He is currently being held under a $57,000 bond.

Arrested in connection from a break-in on Mill Creek Road was Richard Chamberlin Sherman Jr., 47, listing a Cedar Creek Road address in Glenville. Sherman was charged with one felony count of larceny and has been released after posting a $10,000 bond.

Also recently arrested was Melissa Nicole Cook, 31 years of age, listing a Bumgarner Cemetery Road address in Whittier. Cook was charged with one felony count of possession with intent to sell/deliver methamphetamine and one felony count of maintaining a dwelling for the use of controlled substance regarding an investigation that led to the discovery of 7 grams of crystal methamphetamine in Cook’s possession at the Starlight Motel in Whittier. She has been released after posting a $3,000 bond.
