Fill dirt available from airport project

By Nick Breedlove

The Jackson County Airport Authority is making nearly 200 yards of fill dirt available to the citizens of Jackson County for free. The dirt is coming from the current retention pond project at the airport.

Those wanting a pickup load of dirt can come to the airport and load it personally. Those wanting larger loads should come between  4 and 6 p.m. for the dirt to be loaded by on-site equipment. If the material is needed for a larger project, then arrangements should be made during the day as well.

A message can be left at the airport at 586-0321.

Rock material from this same project has been donated to Western Carolina University’s health and gerontological sciences building currently being constructed.
