Thornburg to retire in August
Media reports state that U.S. District Judge Lacy Thornburg will retire at the end of August.
A Webster resident, Thornburg started out more than 40 years ago as a state legislator. From there, he served as an N.C. Superior Court judge and two terms as the state’s attorney general before being named a federal judge.
Thornburg’s retirement will open up a third federal judgeship in North Carolina.
