State of emergency remains; schools closed Monday

Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians declares state of emergency

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Principal Chief Michelle Hicks signed a proclamation declaring a state of emergency on Saturday (Jan. 30). The proclamation applies to all of the Cherokee Indian Reservation, including Qualla Boundary, Snowbird and Cherokee County tracts. Groves to retire as SCC president

Simmons surpasses 1,000 points in win

Duke could begin Dillsboro Dam demolition next week
